We help homeowners gain an accurate assessment of their home's energy usage, without hidden (or not hidden motives) of selling insulation, windows, or appliances.
We help home owners solve comfort issues (drafts, cold or hot rooms).

What We Audit

An certified auditor will prepare your Energy Audit Report with easy-to-read details on:

•  Utility bill analysis
•  Combustion safety testing of natural gas, propane, and oil appliances

•  The condition of every major component from the roof to the basement

•  Major and minor energy losses
•  Pictures of problem areas

•  Prioritized scope of work

Our Energy Auditor will review the detailed report with you to make sure you understand everything and answer any remaining questions.

Items We Audit

·     A Utility bill analysis to determine the largest energy usage areas.
·     An interview to understand energy usage habits and any key problem areas according to the owner.
·     Proper draft and CO containment on all combustion appliances.
·     Inspect for oversize exhaust fans.

·     Inspect insulation in the attic, crawlspace, in walls where visible, and on duct work.
·     Inspect knee walls for proper construction.

·     Inspect common air leakage paths (recessed lights, around fire places, crawl space to attic chases, open areas between floors.

·     Audit lighting (incandescent, CFL or LED bulbs)
·     Audit major appliances for energy efficiency.

·     Audit swimming pool operation
·     Conduct a blower door test to test for infiltration.

·     Use infrared camera (or smoke stick) to determine infiltration sites.
·     Conduct duct leakage test (additional cost)

Light Commercial Energy Audits

Conduct audits to determine type, size and rate of consumption of major energy using devices; Identify and recommend operation, maintenance or replacement practices and behaviors to conserve energy; Provide rough estimate for conservation improvements; Provide projected energy savings to help evaluate a replacement decision; Identify possible health and safety issues; and Provide a written report of findings.

Duct and Envelope Testing

As of July 1, 2011, the State of Georgia adopted the International Energy Conservation Code.  This code requires testing the tightness of new duct systems and new or significant modifications to the building envelope.  We have the equipment and are authorized by the state to conduct these tests required by code.  We are not obligated to any other company so you can be assured our testing will be unbiased.

Building Science Guidance
When designing a new building or major modifications, following your contractors advice based on "we've always done it this way", may not be the best way in light of current building science.  We have been trained to understand the interactions of various building systems and the impact they have on each other.  This service will provide guidance during the planning process to insure you understand the best technologies available and you are able to make an informed choice for your home or office.

Green Building Guidance

With the current emphasis on conservation, many customers want to build homes or update homes using green technologies and / or materials. This service will provide guidance on green options that are available for any project that is being considered.
